​Essential Oils: The Rise of Aromatherapy Opens Doors for
the export

   Essential oils are products extracted from plants and trees with a high level of purity and have several purposes, they can be used to create cosmetics, scented candles and aromatherapy, when placed in an aroma diffuser. These oils are on the rise in the market due to their incredible benefits, ranging from lightening skin blemishes when used in cosmetics to treatments and disease prevention when used for aromatherapy.

Opportunity to export a product that is on the rise

 

    According to the website of the Sociedade Nacional de Agricultura, Brazil is one of the largest exporters of essential oils in the world, occupying fourth place. Of the most important oils, 18 are Brazilian. Because our country has a great biodiversity, we found several sources of extraction for the creation of this product. The Trend Economy website shows that the countries that Brazil exported most of these oils in 2019 are: United States, Netherlands, Japan, China, India, France, Spain, Singapore and United Kingdom.  

 

    According to Sebrae, world production of this product is around 45 thousand tons, estimated at U$700 million, and Brazil has around 13.4% of this production. Another fact that Sebrae informs is that in 2011 the Brazilian sector had revenues of more than 43 billion dollars in the HPPC (Personal Care, Perfumery and Cosmetics) market, with this revenue being 18.9% higher than in the previous year. According to the Trading Economics website, in 2019 Brazil earned more than U$734.71 million from the export of essential oils and cosmetics alone.

    Therefore, it is possible to see the significant growth in the domestic and foreign market for this product, and with Brazil occupying a very important place in relation to the export of essential oils. This is an even more advantageous factor for those interested in internationalizing this product, and for that, it is extremely necessary to have financial and strategic planning together with a market study, a service that a consultancy could offer, bringing greater ease and assertiveness to the export process.
