The Brazilian opportunity in relation to the dairy market in the world

   It can be seen how the demand for milk products in the world is increasing more and more. Dairy products involve products such as cheese, milk itself, sweets, powdered milk, and butter, for example, and its consumption has been growing a lot in countries like China.  

   The Chinese are the world's biggest dairy importers


   According to consumption data from the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) and FAO (United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization), consumption of powdered milk (both whole and skim) in China grew by 78.6 % from the year 2008 to the year 2018. Regarding cheese, according to the Brazilian Dairy Association, in 2018, the Chinese imported around 108,000 tons of this product, which showed a growth of 13% in compared to the previous five years. According to China Customs, in 2018, the value of Chinese dairy imports reached 10.65 billion dollars.


    Despite the Covid-19 crisis, during the first two months of 2020, China increased its imports of dairy products, suggesting that demand has been increasing. Imports of butter fat and cheese, for example, grew over the same period in 2019, according to EdairyNews.


    According to information released by the Ministry, the Chinese are the largest importers of dairy products in the world, and considering the size of the Chinese population, this indicates the relevance of the dairy products market in the country in relation to the rest of the globe.  

   The sales potential for Egypt  

   Since the opening of the Egyptian market, the Ministry of Agriculture found that the potential for sales of dairy products in relation to Egypt is of 8 billion dollars in ten years, starting in 2019. In 2018, Brazil exported dairy products for 58 countries. In 2019, it increased its number of importers to 90.
